President Biden has said “we’ve gotta” tackle the immigration crisis and the “worse thing” that has happened is that “we haven’t gotten it done”.
In an interview with The New York Times on Sunday, Mr Biden said the US “still has a lot to do” and reiterated his belief that President Donald Trump’s controversial immigration order is unconstitutional.
“We’ve got to do a lot more,” he said.
“And I mean, we’re not going to get there without a lot better leadership.
And if you look at the numbers, the numbers show that we still have a lot left to do.”
Mr Biden also defended Mr Trump’s decision to ban entry to the US for citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, including Iran, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen and Libya.
“I think that that’s a terrible decision, but it is a decision that’s necessary,” he told the Times.
“What I do know is that I think it will make a difference.
And I think that we have to start moving forward in a bipartisan way, and I’m glad that the president has been a part of that.”ABC/wiresTopics:immigration,world-politics,government-and-politics
